Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan - will sign permanently - contract until 2023
For his expectations and the money he cost, Dawson has been an absolute revelation this season. Surplus to requirements at a relegated team, we all just expected another Roger Johnson style signing, but he stepped in and looked fantastic. He has surely far, far exceeded anyones wildest expectations of him when he signed.

Unfortunately without Rice protecting the defence he is being exposed and making huge errors. Time for him to be put back on the bench - at least until someone other than Noble is playing.

Is it merely a coincidence his last 3 games have been dodgy.... and rice has been missing.

Use till the end of the season then bin the cunt on a free, will cost us more points wise in the long run otherwise

Agreed
And 4th centre back is the role he should fill next season.
Understand Balbuena is leaving and Diop still has question marks about him.
Next season should be Ogbonna , Dawson and another ... 2 others if Diop is moved.
Understand the boy Alves is highly thought of, whether he is ready to be one is another matter.
We certainly looked at a lot of centre halves last summer from the ludictously priced Tarkowski to Fofana who looks the business having gone to Leicester.
Hopefully Moyes is supported if he goes back in for one of the ones considered previously.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan - will sign permanently - contract until 2023
He was signed as a 4th CB so this hardly comes as a surprise. Still don't blame that one on him but on Moyes, you can't have a player who's terrible with the ball do the playmaking from the back..

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
Dawson has gone completely off the boil, and I agree that he and Diop together look increasingly nervous and vulnerable.

Takashi
Just seen the game and I'll agree with you.
10 goals conceded in the last 4 games is not good.
Imagine not conceding 1 in each game and we'll have GD of +15 and 3 more points.
Dawson's game had gone of the boil and his concentration has been poor. A good thing with Chelsea coming up. Hopefully we can have Cresswell back and Ogbonna up to full fitness. But the other problem was Noble in midfield constantly sliding in with tackles, letting players drift by him. With 10 men he shouldn't of been playing more than 60 mins..
Very late subs from Moyes too.

LOL at a professional footballer not being able to control a simple pass and then pass to an unmarked team mate.

It was the worst centre back display since his shocker against Arsenal and the worst by any West Ham player since Wayne Quinn.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
He looks absolutely panic stricken ATM . Him and diop have no confidence in each other whatsoever . I'd put balbuena back in alongside ogbonna and revert to a back 4 when cresswell returns.

Dawson has been shit since the arsenal game.

COYI - one bad performance?

He's been poor for a few games.. But not on your hit list of players to criticise, so clearly nobody else is allowed to criticise players that you don't.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
Ridiculous that Dawson is being criticised after ONE bad performance. He has been a revelation since he came into the side.

That said, I do rate Balbuena as our second best centre half behind Ogbonna and ahead of Dawson and Diop.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
Yep so deep yesterday, like playing with 4 cbs at times.

There was one occasion when he received the ball at 0-0 and at least two of our players made runs with most of their team forward, he just needed to move the ball forward but passed it back to one of the cbs.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
Dawson has been great but I been getting the feeling he was playing to get a contract and may have taken the foot off slightly since winning over the fans. That said he is a great presence on set pieces and thats an asset. Cant think of any other current premier defender as good at the moment. Could even had one yesterday sneaking in on the back post.

Takashi Miike 9:59 Sun Apr 18
Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
I'm not blaming noble for yesterday, most of the blame is on the goalkeeper but the problem with him in the team is how deep he sits and how it suffocates the CBs. it's not a new thing with him, as when he could still run he'd do it when he had kouyate alongside him. that prevents us ever having a higher line and welcomes pressure

fraser 9:57 Sun Apr 18
Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
There's a reason Watford were selling him and cheap too.

He's had a brilliant run of form since breaking into the side, but you also have to think Moyes wasn't expecting it either or he would have picked him earlier

But you have to think the form he's showing now is closer to his usual form and why he wasn't wanted at Watford

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
I thought balbuena was doing well until he got the injury and although he wasn’t great I couldn’t put any goals down to him. With Dawson you can actually put goals down directly to him and the numbers are building up. Any forward with movement seems to have a field day against him.

Stowie.40 9:22 Sun Apr 18
Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
He’s done well but he was never signed to be first choice. Him & Diop should be back ups to Ogbonna & a new starting CB. Them slags will pedal Dawson as a new signing and Balbuena’s replacement though.

Hallerinthemorning 9:11 Sun Apr 18
Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
As said below but in a polite way, the problem is NOBLE. He looks to pass back infinitely more times than any of our toehr players and puts Diop and Dawson on the ball many more times than they are used to.
Rice comes back and Dawson goes back to being quality again.

I literally can't stand Noble anymore.

Darby_ 9:08 Sun Apr 18
Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
Both good points zico and Nagel. The problem with playing 5 at the back is the lack of attacking outlets. You could see it when Noble gets the ball and just stand there, waiting for an option ahead of him to pass to. Rice, Masuaku and Cresswell are more likely to charge forward, draw a defender and then offload it.

He’s had some good games but he’s a a liability. We need better. A squad man.
